Woman marries prisoner who gave her his kidney
A woman whose life was saved after a prison inmate donated her his kidney has married him in a special ceremony on the Romanian version of Surprise, Surprise.
Diana Moldovan, 30, tied the knot with Dorel Vidican in a surprise ceremony which will be broadcast on Romanian TV this weekend. Vidican had been serving a three-year sentence for theft when he read in a newspaper last year that Moldovan, whose had been on dialysis for 11 years after her kidneys failed, was likely to die after searches for a compatible donor failed.
He says he then dreamed that he could save her life by donating his kidney and begged prison authorities and doctors to let him donate his kidney. A successful operation was carried out after doctors confirmed that his kidney was compatible and he was later released from prison under a presidential pardon. The pair became friends and later began seeing each other. —Ananova
