Turkish musical evening on 13th
LAHORE: The Lahore Pearl Continental (PC) will hold an instrumental musical evening on April 13 featuring a Turkish music orchestra that was founded by musician Ruhi Ayangil.
The PC will hold this concert in collaboration with the Turkish Embassy. Mr Ayangil has been playing the Kaun (a musical instrument) for 40 years. He was educated at the Istanbul Conservatory in the field of vocal harmony. He also learned to play the piano and studied harmony and composition.
He directed the Bogazici University Chorus, which performed in Holland, Russia and Poland. He was awarded the ‘Artist of the Year’ in 1988 by the Turkish Writers Association. He gave seminars on Kaun and the development stages of Turkish music during 1993-1994 in Manchester and London. Along with his orchestra, Mr Ayangil has had concerts in Rhodes, London, Frankfurt, Brussels, Seville and Moscow.
