GDA pays man on ombudsman’s directions

LAHORE: The Gujranwala Development Authority (GDA) has refunded Rs 290,182 to a complainant, on a directive of Punjab Ombudsman Justice (r) Sajjad Ahmed Sipra. The complainant had moved an application to the ombudsman’s office, seeking a refund of excess payment made to the GDA on account of commercialization fee for a 10-marla plot at Model Town, Gujranwala. Justice Sipra sought a report from the GDA, which expressed its willingness to refund the excess amount but did not agree to the complainant’s claim for payment of interest on the same. Later, the complainant appeared in the ombudsman’s office to inform him that the GDA had paid him the original sum. —Staff Report
