40-floor building will disfigure The Mall, says LHC judge
Staff Report
LAHORE: The construction of a 40-floor building on The Mall would be a blow to the aesthetics of the place and hinder the flow of traffic, said Justice Sheikh Abdul Rashid of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday on a petition by Syed Hassam Qadir, a hotel owner seeking to build another hotel. Justice Rashid adjourned the petition to November 30.
Ali Sibtain Fazli, counsel for the petitioner, contended that the nazim of Data Gunj Buksh Town had allowed Qadir to construct the building, which would also have parking for 120 cars. Mr Fazli said his client was upset that the court had restrained him from constructing the hotel.
