Lawyers convention at LHCBA on 20th
By Abid Butt
LAHORE: The All Pakistan Lawyers Convention will be held at the Lahore High Court Bar Association on November 20 to work out a strategy against General Pervez Musharraf holding two offices beyond December 31.
The convention will be held in public in the presence of the country’s lawyers and their representatives. Previously the convention was held at Karachi Shuhada Hall.
Representatives of the Pakistan Bar Council, Supreme Court Bar Association, Provincial Bar Councils, High Court Bars Association, District and Teshil Bar Associations will attend the convention.
Zulfiqar Ali Bokhari, the vice president of LHCBA, said that the main agenda of the convention was to protest the uniform of General Pervez Musharraf. He said that the speakers would also suggest a strategy to push forward the restoration of the Constitution of 1973 without the 17th constitutional amendment. He said on the day of the convention the lawyers would also take a procession from the Bar to the Assembly Hall to record their protest. Mr Bokhari said the convention was being held in a situation where the rulers had submitted to the wishes of America and were ignoring the public, adding that LHCBA was sending teams to various districts to mobilise other lawyers.
