310 prisoners to be released from Camp Jail today

LAHORE: Around 310 prisoners involved in minor cases will be released on Thursday from Lahore Camp Jail because of Eidul Fitr, said prison department sources. Sources said Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi had ordered a collection of funds to pay the fines of prisoners involved in minor cases. The inspector general of prisons, with the help of wealthy people, had collected around Rs 6.5 million for the fines of 110 prisoners. However, in connection with Eidul Fitr, around 200 prisoners from various jails of Punjab will also be released. Sources said that all 310 prisoners will be released in a ceremony at the district camp jail and Mr Elahi will be the chief guest. staff report
