Saudi Arabia will invest in agro-industry
ISLAMABAD: Saudi Arabia wants to investment in food processing, dairy farming and poultry in Pakistan, said Mr Hashim A Yamani, Saudi minister for commerce and industry, who met Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan, federal minister for food, agriculture and livestock, on Wednesday.
An official statement said the ministers discussed matters of mutual interest, particularly in the agriculture sector. Mr Bosan told the Saudi minister that there were several investment opportunities in agro-industries like dairy farming, fruit and vegetable processing. Mr Bosan asked the Saudi minister to increase the rice import from Pakistan.
He said Pakistan produced five million tons of rice, of which around 2.3 million tons were of premium quality Basmati rice. He told the Saudi minister that Pakistan had exported $500 million of rice last year. staff report
