IT Ministry okays Rs 30m for automated Haj applications
ISLAMABAD: The Information Technology (IT) Ministry has approved a project worth Rs 30 million project for the automation of submission and the processing of Haj applications, said Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari¸ IT minister.
The project was approved during a meeting of the IT Departmental Development Working Party (DDWP). The project has been launched on Mr Leghari’s direction to reduce the difficulties faced by pilgrims during Haj. The Electronic Government Directorate, a subsidiary of the IT Ministry, has prepared the project.
Mr Leghari said the project would involve the establishment of a software system for the Haj wing of the Religious Affairs Ministry, which would become a single point of access for all major services, including registration, data verification, group formation, balloting and selection of applications, automatic printing of Haj pilgrims and their luggage, from scheduling, confirmation and the cost of flights during Haj. He said under the new automated system, the pilgrim camps and liaison offices in Saudi Arabia would be linked with the ministry so that information of the entire process could be obtained from anywhere. “This will synchronise the operation and end the difficulties faced by pilgrims,” he said. app
