Tributes paid to Mohmand

PESHAWAR: Various people paid rich tributes to poet, critic, writer and journalist Qalandar Mohmand in a function held on Saturday at the Peshawar Press club (PPC).
The function paid tributes to the first chairman of the PPC, who died last Thursday, and was attended by a large number of journalists, intellectuals, poets, lawyers, doctors and literary figures. They termed Momand’s death a great loss to the Pakhtoon nation.
Professor Rasool Amin said the deceased did not sell his knowledge in the market for own interests. Salim Raz said Mohmand guided his followers in the right direction. Abasyin Yousafzai said Mohmand’s contribution to Pashto literature would last forever. Raj Wali Shah Khattak said,“ He was the pioneer of progressive literature and due to his efforts Pashto literature became distinguished.”
