PTA discusses services promotion

LAHORE: The first meeting of the Regional Advisory Committee of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Lahore Region, was held here with Maj Gen (r) Shahzada Alam Malik in chair.

The meeting framed recommendations to be implemented by the PTA to promote harmony among the various players in the telecom field and to improve the quality of service by operators at the lowest possible price.

Director General PTA, Nasim Ahmed Vohra briefed the committee members of the PTA’s function as a telecom regulatory body, and its role in streamlining information technology and the telecommunication sector.

Director Tariff PTA, Muhammad Saeed gave a presentation on the tariff rationalization policy and its implementation.

Former Vice Chancellor Punjab University, Dr Munirud Din Chughtai, , Maj Gen (r) A Sattar Choudhary, Principal Al-Khair University, Prof Dr Saleem Iqbal Alvi, former Director General Pakistan Telecommunication, Mushtaq Ahmed Bhatti, Advocate Azhar Ahsan Sheikh , former Head of Journalism Department PU, Dr Miskeen Hajazi, well known writer, Ashfaq Ahmed, Commander Signals Corps, Brig Abdul Hameed, Dr Younis Butt, Chairman Dept of Electrical Engineering University of Engineering and Technology, Prof Dr Noor Muhammad Sheikh and President Quami Tajir Ittehad, Fayyaz Khalid attended the meeting.
