Four killed in Kashmir violence

SRINAGAR: Three Islamic militants and a civilian were killed overnight in separatist-linked violence in Indian-held Kashmir, a police spokesman said on Sunday.

The spokesman said Indian security forces shot dead three Islamic militants in two separate encounters in the disputed Himalayan region. Police said both the encounters erupted during cordon and search operations by Indian troops. Suspected militants shot dead a civilian, Bashir Dar in Baramulla district on Saturday. —AFP
