Slain Hindus cremated in Quetta

QUETTA: Four people from the minority Hindu community, shot dead by unidentified gunmen overnight, were cremated here on Sunday amid calls for the arrest of the killers, police said. Hundreds of mourners participated in a procession which ended at the Hindu community’s cemetery after covering the five kilometres from the main Zarghoon neighbourhood in Quetta. They chanted anti-government slogans and demanded the immediate arrest of the attackers. The Hindus were gunned down late Saturday by three men who barged into a liquor shop and took six people hostage. They bound the captives’ hands and opened fire indiscriminately. Community leaders described the incident as terrorism and demanded an inquiry. —AFP
