‘Indian agencies attacked Shah’
NEW DELHI: Syed Ali Shah Geelani, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) chairman, said on Tuesday that the attack on his son-in-law Altaf Ahmad Shah alias Fantosh was part of Indian intelligence agencies’ plan to suppress the Kashmir struggle.
“It (the attack) cannot be the handiwork of mujahideen, it is only the Indian agencies who are behind such attacks,” Geelani told reporters, according to a news report received here. He said India had adopted a four-pronged approach to suppress the freedom struggle in held Kashmir, he said. Mirwaiz Umer Farooq called on Altaf Shah at Soura hospital on Tuesday, and said it was ‘unfortunate’ that people were being attacked in this manner. “Such incidents should be investigated and the unidentified gunmen behind these inhuman acts should be unmasked,” he said. Mirwaiz said the alleged rape of a woman and her daughter by an army officer at Handwara, reflected a rise in human rights violations, which would affect talks with India. app
