3 Palestinians shot dead by Israeli forces
JERUSALEM: Israeli forces on Tuesday shot and killed three Palestinians, two in the Gaza Strip and one in the West Bank.
According to Israeli army sources, two Palestinians were killed when they entered an unauthorised area in the Gaza Strip. The incident took place near Kibbutz Kfar Aza, a farming community in southern Israel near the Gaza border fence.
“They entered a forbidden area for movement as they were crawling towards the security fence. They were identified and then they were shot by the forces,” an army spokeswoman said. “In searches conducted later on, next to their bodies were found four hand grenades and binoculars,” she added.
Meanwhile, a 24-year-old Palestinian died on Tuesday after being shot in the head by Israeli troops during an incursion in the northern West Bank town of Nablus, medical and security sources said.
Qadri Ashur was rushed to hospital after the shooting in the centre of town but died shortly afterwards of his injuries, the medical sources said. Another person was also seriously wounded.
Security sources said troops travelling in jeeps had opened fire after coming under attack from a group who were throwing stones. A spokesman for the Israeli army confirmed that it had shot two Palestinians in the centre of town.
One gunman had been hit when forces returned fire at him while a second Palestinian was also shot after he had thrown an explosive device at the soldiers. agencies
