200 drug addicts rehabilitated in Darulkifala
PESHAWAR: Hafiz Hashmat Khan, provincial minister for social welfare, zakat and ushar, said on Tuesday that 200 drug addicts had been rehabilitated during the last one and a half year at Darulkifala.
He said this at a farewell Iftar party hosted in the honour of the rehabilitated beggars and drug addicts at Darulkifala.
The minister said the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal government was taking steps for the welfare of neglected segments of society. The minister urged philanthropists to come forward and supplement the government’s efforts.
Social Welfare Department Director Hafiz Hashmat Khan, Deputy Secretary Dr Fakhrul Islam and a large number of officials attended the party.
Dr Islam said that credit for the rehabilitation of beggars and drug addicts went to the whole team of the Social Welfare Department who worked diligently and made the task a success.
The drug addicts during the course of their rehabilitation were trained to earn their livelihood respectably. Later, the provincial minister distributed certificates, sewing machines and other tools among the rehabilitated beggars and drug addicts. app
