Provinces to be given basic immunisation policy today

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has reviewed and modified an expanded programme on immunisation, which will be handed over to the provinces today (Thursday). A Health Ministry official told Daily Times on Wednesday that the policy was prepared keeping the new trends on the spread of diseases in mind. Under the programme, the government proposes effective monitoring an mechanism to track the spread of diseases. The supervision and delivery of the vaccines are also an important component of the programme.
The official said that provincial governments would be directed to improve the surveillance system to control diseases under the new policy. He said that a proper mechanism would be developed to check and control the outbreak of diseases. The main emphasis will be given on the service delivery. The policy called for an efficient resource management, recording and reporting mechanism. The new policy highlights the safety of injections and the launch of supplementary immunisation campaigns to improve the situation. The official said the policy would guide the federal, provincial, and district governments in how to use available resources.
