Local council polls schedule

Under the phase-I, polling will be held on August 18 in 56 districts for union nazims, naib union nazims and members in union councils for Muslims, Muslim women, peasants/workers, women peasants/workers and minority communities.

The polling will be held in the following districts:

The districts from Punjab include Gujranwala, Sialkot, Sargodha, Khushab, Multan, Lodhran, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Vehari, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and Rahimyar Khan.

The districts from Sindh include Karachi, Thatta, Tando Allah Yar, Ghotki, Nausharo Feroz, Jaccobabad, Kashmore, Mirpurkhus, Umerkot, Sanghar and Tharparkar.

The districts from the NWFP include Peshawar, Nowshehra, Charsadda, Mardan, Swabi, Kohat, Karak Bannu, Dera Ismael Khan, Tank, Haripur and Buner.

The districts from Balochistan include Khuzdar, Mastung, Kharan, Awaran, Pishin, Noshki, Sibi, Ziarat, Bolan, Nasirabad, Jaffarabad, Killa Saifullah, Barkhan and Gwadar.

Notice for inviting nomination papers will be issued on July 16.

The filing of nomination papers will be from July 18-20.

The publication of notice of nominations will be on July 21.

Objection by voters can be filed on July 22.

The scrutiny of nomination papers will be on July 23-24.

Filing of appeals by the candidates will be on July 25.

Disposal of appeals will be on July 27.

Candidature could be withdrawn by July 28.

Final list of contesting candidates will be published on July 29.

Polling to be held on August 18.

Results will be declared on August 20.

The districts from Sindh include Hyderabad, Tando Muhammad Khan, Dadu, Matiari, Jamshoro, Badin, Sukkur, Khairpur, Nawabshah, Larkana, Shahdad Kot and Shikarpur.

The districts from the NWFP include Hangu, Lakki Marwat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Battagram, Kohistan, Swat, Shangla, Upper Dir, Lower Dir, Chitral and Malakand Protected Area.

The districts from the Balochistan include Kalat, Washuk, Lasbela, Jhal Magsi, Quetta, Dera Bugti, Killa Abdullah, Chagai, Kohlu, Loralai, Zhob, Musakhel, Kech and Panjgur.

The filing of nomination papers will be from July 25-27.
