Local councils dissolved

LAHORE: All local bodies institutions in Punjab have been dissolved with the announcement of local election schedule, and caretakers have been appointed, said the Punjab law and local government minister, Muhammad Basharat Raja, addressing reporters on Thursday.

The minister said that district coordination officers, town municipal officers and town regulation officers have been appointed caretakers at the district, tehsil municipal administration and union council levels respectively.

The caretakers will look after day-to-day affairs. He said that the government has devised an effective strategy to maintain law and order in the province during local elections. He said the candidates would observe the code of conduct made by the Election Commission and election instructions would be strictly implemented. staff report
