PTI to contest polls with opp parties
LAHORE: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) will contest the local elections at district, tehsil and union council level in collaboration with ‘democratic’ opposition parties, the PTI decided at a provincial organising committee meeting on Thursday.
The party directed office-bearers and workers to participate in the elections and coordinate with opposition parties’ workers. The meeting demanded accountability of corrupt nazims before the elections so that they would not be re-elected.
The participants expressed dissatisfaction over the government’s political, economic and internal polices and rising inflation in Pakistan. Admiral (r) Javed Iqbal, chief organiser, chaired the meeting. Senior vice president Bashir Chaudhry, women’s wing president Syda Sailooni Bokhari, secretary general Tariq Farooq Mirza, joint secretary Amin Zaki, information secretary Umer Sarfraz Cheema and press secretary Yasir Arafat attended the meeting. staff report
