US professor launches book on RAWA

Staff Report

PESHAWAR: Dr Anne E Brodsky, a professor at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, USA, on Monday said the Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan (RAWA) has been working to highlight the problems of Afghan women for the last 26 years.

Dr Brodsky, while introducing her book ‘With All Our Strength’ at the Peshawar Press Club, explained the achievements and objectives of the RAWA, which forms the crux of her work. She said she had written the book after experiencing the life of Afghan women in Afghanistan and Pakistan over a period of four months. She said she had come to know about the projects the RAWA had undertaken for the social uplift of the Afghan women. The professor said she had interviewed 100 people, including Afghan women, leaders of Shia and Sunni Muslims in Afghanistan and organisers of various RAWA projects in both the countries. She said RAWA was committed to winning freedom for Afghan women and creating awareness among them for enhancing their living standards through better education.
