PFEA team discusses problems with minister

LAHORE: A six-member delegation of the Pakistan Film Exhibitors Association (PFEA) from the Punjab and NWFP called on Punjab Excise and Taxation Minister Dr Muhammad Shafique Chaudhry at the Civil Secretariat on Wednesday.
The delegation presented various problems faced by the cinema industry and demanded the abolition of the 30 percent entertainment duty for five years, righting off the property tax of cinema buildings and also raised the issue of fixed entertainment duty.
It was unanimously decided to hold a Punjab level meeting of the owners of 262 cinema houses at Gulistan Cinema, Lahore on May 15 at 11.00am.
The meeting would discuss various issues relating to the cinema industry. Dr Chaudhry, the Punjab Excise and Taxation secretary and Excise director general would also attend the meeting. PFEA’s patron in chief Sheikh Akhtar Ali, chairman Chaudhry Akbar Rehman, senior vice chairman Ghulam Qadir Khan, Mian Amjad Shaheen, Muhammed Arif Khan and Muhammud Shahbaz led the delegation.
