Punjab govt plans Madr-e-Millat birthday celebrations

LAHORE: The Punjab government has arranged special programmes in connection with the birthday (July 31) celebrations of Madr-e-Millat Fatima Jinnah.
The events include essay writing, children’s painting competition and a travelling exhibition of photographs, sources told Daily Times on Wednesday.
The programmes will be held by the Punjab government in collaboration with the Nazria-e-Pakistan Foundation and other departments mainly of education and social welfare.
The sources said that district nazims had been directed by the Punjab government to hold at least one event in their respective districts since the Punjab government has attributed the current year to Madr-e-Millat. The essay competition will be held among school and college students of the province. The title of the essay competition is “What the Life of Madr-e-Millat Demands From Us”. Cash prizes will be given to winners of the competitions.
The first prize is Rs 10,000, the second is Rs 7,000 and the third is Rs 5,000. For the college level competition, the title of essay competition is “Struggle of Muslim Women from Madr-e-Millat to contemporary age”. The cash prizes for college students are: Rs 15,000 for the first prize, Rs 10,000 for the second and Rs 7,000 for the third.
The painting competition title is “Pakistan Past and Future in the Eyes of Young Painters” the first prize of painting competition is Rs 15,000, the second Rs 10,000 and the third Rs 7,000. A travelling photo exhibition featuring rare photographs of Ms Jinnah will also be held. The opening of the exhibition will be held in Lahore and later in other divisions.
Another important feature of the Madr-e-Millat programme is the Madr-e-Millat National Conference to be held on July 31. To formulate all the programmes a meeting was held with Additional Chief Secretary Mian Muhammad Jamil in the chair. Those who attended included the Secretary of Information and Culture, Taimur Azmat Osman, and representatives of local government, education, social welfare, finance and Punjab small industries.
