Naqvi’s grandson found dead

LAHORE: The dead body of 4-year-old Muhammad Ali Mehdi, the grandson of Hafiz Kazim Raza Naqvi, a Shia leader, was found from a drain in front of the grandfather’s house on Sunday. Muhammad Ali Mehdi was staying at Mr Naqvi’s house when he was reported missing. Mehmood Ali Shah, the father of the child, filed a missing persons report on October 28 and claimed that his son had been kidnapped. After the autopsy, police said that the report suggested that the child was playing outside the house when he slipped and fell in the drain.
Old man tortured to death Muhammad Aslam was allegedly tortured to death by the Samananbad police. Mr Aslam, a resident of Muslim Colony, was running a cable service with his son Yasir. Mr Yasir had a business rivalry with Kashif Butt, another cable operator, and shot Mr Butt. Mr Butt was taken to a hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. The police registered a case on the complaint of Zahid Butt, Kashif’s elder brother. Police arrested Mr Aslam and tortured him. The police claim that Mr Aslam died of a heart attack.
Robber shot dead A resident of Nishtar Colony shot dead an unidentified robber while two of his accomplices escaped on Sunday. Reportedly three armed men entered the house of Muhammad Boota and held the family at gunpoint. Karamat, Mr Boota’s son, wrestled one of the robbers and snatched his gun. Mr Karamat opened fire on the robbers and killed one. The body has been sent for an autopsy.
