Clerics oppose Mian Sharif’s funeral at Data Darbar

LAHORE: Various clerics have opposed the funeral of Mian Sharif, which will be held at the Shrine of Data Sahib on Monday.

Allama Maqsood Ahmad Qadri, Khateeb of Jamia Masjid Data Darbar, Maulana Fazale Rahim of Jamia Ashrafia Lahore, Abdul Majeed Azad, Khateeb of Badshahi Masjid, Sahibzada Maulana Usman Noori of Noori Masjid Railway Station and Qari Abdus Salam, Khateeb of Jamia Masjid Nila Gumbad Lahore, stressed the need to avoid the use of the shrine for political purpose.

In a joint statement, they said that the selection of the shrine for the Namaz-e-Janaza of Mian Sharif could cause security problems. They said that a large number of people would be using Ravi Road on Monday, which was the first working day of the week, and a funeral procession would disturb the traffic system as well.
