Nawaz urges nation to work for revival of constitution

JEDDAH: In his congratulatory New Year message to the nation on Friday, Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan Muslim League-N leader, stressed the need for cooperation to restore the constitution and foster national integrity. He prayed for peace, security and prosperity of the nation and the global community.

He expressed grief that the humanity had fallen victim to genocide, terrorism and catastrophes from the past several years. “This year also brought devastation due to the tsunami,” he said.

He said Pakistan was in the midst of disparity with an unprecedented level of unemployment, adding it was lamentable that the constitution had been designed to empower an individual. He said it was unfortunate that some political parties had assisted in tarnishing the constitution. He prayed that the new year would bring stability to institutions, revival of the constitution, national integrity and security. The nation would have to work together to achieve this goal, he added.

Raja Zafarul Haq, PML-N chairman, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, PML-N president, Javed Hashmi, PML-N acting president, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Muhammad Siddiq ul Farooq, information secretary, have also expressed good wishes and prayed for the success of the nation. online
