Staff Report
PESHAWAR: Asmatullah Khan Gundapur, political agent in South Waziristan Agency (SWA), who was injured in an explosion on Thursday, was shifted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Peshawar on Friday for medical treatment.
Gundapur and his driver, Mehrdali Mehsud, were injured when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded. The device was planted by terrorists near Tank district late on Thursday.
Maj Gen Muhammad Akram Sahi, general officer commanding (GOC) in Peshawar, visited CMH to enquire about the health of the injured and also conveyed to them the wishes of Lt Gen Safdar Hussain, crops commander, who was not in the city.
In his message, the crops commander prayed for healthy recovery of Mr Gandapur and his driver and has directed doctors to give their full-attention to the injured.
The general officer commanding said the attack on the political agent was a cowardly act and vowed to eliminate terrorism. He said sacrifices made by the armed and paramilitary forces ensured the solidarity and integrity of the country and added that the political administration had worked hard during the military offensive against foreign terrorists and those who harbour them, dismantling the terrorist’s hideouts and restoring peace in South Waziristan region.
