Shia surgeon, son shot dead in Lahore

* Two motorcyclists intercepted doctor’s car on FCC Bridge

Staff Report

LAHORE: Lahore General Hospital Ophthalmology Department head Prof
Dr Ali Haider and his 12-year-old son were shot dead by two unidentified motorcyclists in the Gulberg area on Monday.

Dr Haider, a resident of Hali Road Gulberg, was going to drop his son Murtaza at school in his car when two motorcyclists intercepted them near FC College Bridge and opened fire. As a result, Dr Haider died on the spot, while his son received fatal bullet wounds. They were taken to a nearby hospital, where Murtaza died shortly after his admission to the facility.

The family members of the late doctor informed the police that Dr Haider had no enmity.

They strongly condemned the incident and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits. Police have shifted the bodies to the morgue for autopsies, and registered a case against unidentified persons.
