Sikandar Jatoi gets protective bail

Staff Report

LAHORE: A division bench of the Lahore High Court on Wednesday granted protective bail for one day to Sikandar Jatoi, father of Shahrukh Jatoi, the main accused in Shahzeb murder case.

The bench comprising Justice Sagheer Ahmad Qadri and Justice Sheikh Najamul Hasan granted the bail against surety bonds of one million rupees. Jatoi’s counsel moved an application seeking protective bail, and noted that the Supreme Court had taken suo motu notice into the murder of 20-year-old Shahzeb Khan in Karachi.

He pleaded that the applicant wanted protective bail because he feared that the Karachi police would arrest him at the time of his appearance before the apex court. He submitted that the applicant wanted to appear before the apex court to record his statement.

The counsel said Jaoti had nothing to do with the murder and was involved in the case without any legal justification.

Sikander Jatoi had been named in the FIR of the murder as an accused for allegedly aiding his son, prime suspect Shahrukh Jatoi, evade capture.
