Four killed in landmine blast, firing

QUETTA: Four people, including a father and son, were killed in a landmine explosion and an incident of firing in Dera Bugti and Kech districts on Thursday morning. “Three people, including a boy, were killed on the spot when their motorcycle hit a landmine near the RD 238 area of the Bugti tribal territory,” police officials said, adding that the landmine was planted near a Frontier Corps checkpost. Police and FC personnel moved the bodies to a nearby hospital, where the deceased were identified as Muhammad Hafiz, Irfan and Ahmed Hussain Bugti. A four-year-old boy was also among the dead. Police handed over the bodies to their heirs after legal formalities and registered a case against unidentified culprits. In another incident, unidentified gunmen shot dead a man in the Tump area of Kech district near Turbat. The victim was identified as Mehboob. staff report
