4 dengue fever deaths reported

KARACHI: Four dengue fever induced deaths, including that of two young women and two boys, both aged 11, were reported from Karachi during the current year.

Dr Shakeel A Mullick, In-charge, Dengue Surveillance Cell, Sindh Health Department told APP Wednesday that first of these deaths was reported in August followed by another in November. It was during first week of December that two school going kids lost their lives to dengue hemorrhagic fever related complications.

“All these cases were attended at different private hospitals of the metropolis,” said head of the surveillance cell. He said more than 700 suspected cases of dengue fever were registered this year at different hospitals with 362 patients who had to be admitted due to their condition and another 338 attended at OPD. app
