PU VC condoles IK Gujral’s death

LAHORE: Punjab University (PU) Vice Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran on Friday condoled the death of former Indian prime minister Inder Kumar (IK) Gujral.

Gujral had been a student of PU’s Hailey College of Commerce and when he visited Pakistan later, he also visited the university. He cried when he visited the hostel room he used to live in. In a statement, Dr Kamran said that Gujral was a brilliant student, seasoned politician and wanted to improve Indo-Pak relations.

Hailey College of Commerce Principal Dr Liaquat Ali and faculty members have also condoled the death of Gujral.

Gujral, who served as Indian prime minister in a coalition government from April 1997 to March 1998, passed away on Friday afternoon at Gurgaon’s Medanta Medicity hospital, near New Delhi, where he was admitted 11 days ago with a lung infection.
