'Gulab Gang' makes history with Madhuri, Juhi on board

Anubhav Sinha has managed a casting coup of sorts. In his forthcoming film 'Gulab Gang', the director has succeeded in bringing yesteryears` rivals, Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla on board together for the first time, Zee News reported.
Now those who aren't aware, Madhuri and Juhi were considered as competitors back in the late '80s and '90s. The two actresses were pitted against each other for the number one spot and never did any film together.
While Madhuri was signed long back, Juhi's inclusion into the project is recent.
Confirming the news to a daily, Anubhav Sinha explained, "'Gulab Gang' is about two iconic female characters. I couldn`t have pulled off a better cast than the two most iconic female stars, Madhuri and Juhi, together for the first time on Indian screen. My film is an action and drama piece with two women at loggerheads. I needed actors who would justifiably match up to each other, both in terms of their performance and stature. I think, this is the best the film could get, because the subject material is so strong."
Madhuri, who was last seen in 'Aaja Nachle' in 2007, will appear on silver after a long hiatus, while Juhi was last seen in a hilarious performance in 'Son Of Sardaar' that released this Diwali. Reportedly, Juhi is very excited at the prospect of working with Madhuri. The film, which is based on true incident and a gang called 'Gulabi Gang' and the film also stars Mahie Gill and Shilpa Shukla. 'Gulabi Gang' is a women`s group from Uttar Pradesh`s Bundelkhand region that takes up the cause of women facing violence, domestic and social problems. The group's leader Sampat Pal was recently seen in 'Bigg Boss'. With such a powerful subject and firebrand actresses on board, this one is bound to be a crackling film.
