2,000 photos on Bhutto family’s glamorous side to be exhibited

LAHORE: A professional photographer, Agha Feroz, who clicked photos of ZA Bhutto with his spy camera during the Ziaul Haq regime, will exhibit around 4,000 historical pictures of four generations of the Bhutto family since 1910 to 2010. The exhibition will be inaugurated at Nairang Gallery, on the Jail Road, on November 21 and it will continue until three days. More than 2,000 black and white pictures are included in the exhibition, which depict the glamorous side of the Bhutto family.
In the exhibition, some unique photos of ZA Bhutto when he was just three years old, contacted marriage in 1952 with Nusrat Saboon (Begum Nusrat Bhutto), his father Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto’s special photo in Junagarh State’s army uniform as Dewan of the state, picture of just 20 days old Benazir Bhutto in the lap of his mother, ZAB’s photos in Bombay when he was a student, photos in the US during his higher secondary education and in England during his studies for bar-at-law.
A special photo of ZAB when he resigned as General Ayub’s foreign minister in 1966 is also included in the exhibition. While some exclusive pictures of Bhutto’s arrest and four PPP jialas who committed self-immolation in January 1979 protesting a court decision to hang Bhutto are also there. A picture of the only dissenting judge, Justice Dorab Patel, is also being displayed in the exhibition. The judge is shown in the picture coming out of the courtroom after disagreeing with the larger bench’s decision giving ZAB a death sentence.
Karachi-based Agha Feroz is Bhuttos’ family photographer. He has spent more than half of his life with them a devotee. Talking to Daily Times, Feroz said that he has made several pictures with his spy camera during Zia’s martial law period in the guise of a beggar. His work, he said, included picture capping political activities in Lahore, even some pictures showing army personnel torturing PPP diehards.
