Suicide bomber kills six in Buner
Staff Report
PESHAWAR: The commander of an anti-Taliban group and his two guards were among six people killed in a suicide attack on Saturday in Buner district, officials said.
ANP’s Fateh Khan, head of an Aman Lashkar in Buner, was killed when a suicide bomber targeted him near Dagar Medical Centre, Javed Khan, a resident, told Daily Times.
“The suicide bomber blew himself up in front of Fateh Khan’s vehicle. Three guards boarding the vehicle and two passersby were also killed in the attack,” Jehanzeb Khan, the district police chief, told AFP, adding up to five people were injured.
The TTP claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it had targeted Fateh Khan for leading an armed resistance against the group. However, the group’s spokesman claimed the bomber was on foot, as opposed to police reports the bomb was detonated by a man on a motorcycle.
