LHC issues notices to Punjab govt, LDA on shops in parking plaza

LAHORE: Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday issued notices to the Punjab government and Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on an application seeking ban on sale of shops in the Liberty Park and Ride Plaza. The judge directed respondents to file a reply until May 28.

The petitioners’ counsel, Muhammad Azhar Siddique, said that the parking plaza had been constructed at a cost of Rs 670 million, having a capacity to provide parking facility to 300 cars at a time. However, the authorities concerned had negated the very purpose of this plaza by constructing 70 shops and a restaurant on the rooftop, he said, adding that the plaza could no more serve as a parking facility for the citizens. staff report
