Mother’s Day Special: Celebs share their feelings on Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day everyone! Hope you’re spending this special day with your mothers and holding on to her tight. Daily Times speaks to a number of celebs about embracing motherhood and their favourite moments with their dear mommies!

Q. How has embracing motherhood transformed your life?
“Ever since embracing motherhood, I have truly understood the meaning of unconditional love for the first time. Also, becoming a mother yourself is the only way one can really begin to fathom how much our mothers sacrifice for us and love us. All that said and done, it is the best and the most rewarding job in the world.” – Meesha Shafi (Musician)

“I think becoming a mother is taking your life and dividing it into different parts. It never leaves you for a second – your focus can never be on one thing wholly because there are parts of you in your children.” – Mina Hassan (Fashion designer)

“You sign up for a lifetime of immense happiness as well as endless worries.” – Sania Maskatiya (Fashion designer)

“Motherhood is the best thing that has happened to me. I think before I had my child my sense of responsibility and who and what I wanted to be was very different. I always wanted to work in the media and be the best at what I am doing but having a child has actually pushed me to be more than what I am and to be better than a typical performer. Being a mother has made me realise about the effort and time that my mother put into motherhood. I have one child and he takes most of everything in my life and when I look back of how I used to behave with my mother, I actually feel kind of guilty because my mother made a lot of effort for raising three kids. And so I have a whole new admiration and respect for my mother after everything she has done for me. My son is the best thing that has happened to me and so motherhood has been an interesting and learning experience for me personally. – Juggan Kazim (TV anchor, actress and model)

Q. What is your most memorable moment with your mother?
“All the times when no one else believed in me except my mother have been very special. She has always supported no matter what. She is Allah’s biggest blessing on me. May she live long!” – Arsalan Iqbal of Arsalan & Yahseer (Fashion designer)

“Making it back alive miraculously to the shore after being swept out to sea; my mother who had been frantically and unsuccessfully searching for a lifeguard did not know whether to hug or slap me when I got back. I’m glad she chose the first option! I had lost hope on making it back as the outgoing current had exhausted me. All the while it was painful to see my mother run back and forth on the San Clemente beach in California. Before giving up entirely I made a prayer and before I knew it help was at hand. A lone surfer, big black guy I remember had fortunately swum really far out on his surfboard. He looked at me and pitifully said, “Need help?” I held on until the next wave brought us back. It was ‘95 and I was 11 years old. I love the ocean; now I respect it too.” – Waleed Zaman (Kayseria’s art director)

“In grade 7, when I went home with a 10-day suspension letter in my hand. Highly memorable!” – Jimmy Khan (Musician)

“It’s difficult to pin point a moment, but I love spending quality time with my mother, especially our get away on a holiday.” – Nida Azwer (Fashion designer) staff report
