LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the Punjab government is spending huge resources on the provision of comfortable, quality and economical transport facilities to the masses.

He said that modern bus service had been launched in the provincial capital, and its scope was being extended to other cities of the province.

Shahbaz was speaking at a meeting held regarding the Metro Bus Service and Intelligent Transport projects.

Addressing the participants, he said that work on the project of Metro Bus Service in Lahore was underway speedily, and a rapid and modern transport would be available to the citizens after the completion of this project.

He said that the transport system was being reorganised on modern lines for coping with the increasing pressure of transport, and solving problems like traffic jams.

He said the Intelligent Transport System was also being introduced in the province, which would help operate the traffic system in big cities in an organised manner and people would reach their destination on time.

The CM said the system would be a paradigm step towards organising the transport system on modern lines. He said that this modern computerised system of traffic control would help maintain smooth flow of traffic.

He said that it would also help in taking timely steps for coping with any emergent situation and traffic accidents.
