All set to celebrate Pakistan Day today
ISLAMABAD: The nation will celebrate Pakistan Day today (Friday) across the country and in Azad Jammu and Kashmir with traditional zeal and enthusiasm to commemorate the passage of the Lahore Resolution, later called the Pakistan Resolution, which eventually led to the creation of Pakistan.
The day will dawn with special prayers for progress and prosperity of the country and with a 31 gun-salute in the federal capital as well as 21-gun salute in the provincial capitals.
The national flag will be hoisted on important public and private buildings throughout the country and all Pakistani missions abroad.
Governmental, political, cultural, social and other organisations have chalked out various programmes to mark the day in a befitting manner.
In Lahore, several dignitaries will visit the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal to pay homage to the great poet and philosopher.
People belonging to different walks of life will also visit the mausoleum and lay wreaths on the grave and offer fateha.
Several dignitaries will visit the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in Karachi and lay floral wreaths and pay homage to the father of the nation. With rest of the country, Pakistan Day will also be celebrated with traditional zeal in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan to commemorate the passage of Pakistan Resolution.
Pakistan Television, Radio Pakistan and private channels will air special programmes to highlight the significance of Pakistan Day and various aspects of the life and work of the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and other leading personalities. app
