‘Sherrys’: a successful venture into wedding planning business
By Muhammad Aayan
LAHORE: The business community has its own set of rules that includes stopping outflow of cash through various tactics and even the most minor expense being checked and verified time and again before its actual payment. They say this is how a mere rupee transforms and brings in big profit later. There is no emotion while doing business but what if the business itself requires emotion to succeed?
Planning someone else’s wedding is a huge responsibility and only a few people are up to the task for doing it properly. It is not just the clients’ money which is at stake, it is their respect, image and above all, it is the valuable moment when their child is getting married.
Sheherbano Nazir, a business graduate from San Francisco State University has shocked many stable players in the wedding planning business after successfully arranging wedding functions for several bureaucrats and political families in the past two years, which is a matter of concern for others in the same business.
Her company, “Sherrys”, has been widely discussed all over Punjab due to the work, which is close to perfection.
The company did not require advertisement since Sheherbano received unprecedented wedding bookings after her first few event projects. Her former clients praise her event managing skills till now. Her events’ list includes the wedding of former defence minister’s daughter, weddings of business tycoons, political families and serving bureaucrats of the country.
Meanwhile, Sheherbano is seen branching towards the fashion and music world by taking up projects of organising a concert and a fashion show in November. “Arranging high profile weddings is a huge responsibility as the frown of even a single guest could ruin the whole scenario of perfection,” Sheherbano said while talking to Daily Times, adding, “It is a superb feeling when a client walks out smiling but frankly the work involved in the event drains all the energy.”
My son gave me the idea of arranging a concert in the city that would leave an impact on music lovers. “I have named the upcoming event ‘Winter Breeze’ in which there would be a segment of ramp walk along with the concert, Sheherbano said, adding, “I am discussing the availability of different celebrities on these days which will be finalised till Eid and then the work on the fashion corner would begin.”
When asked what distinguishes her event management company from others in the market, she said that it was the joy of weddings that appealed to her and the pleasure of being present on a function where two people exchanged vows and became life partners. “These days, the only time I see big smiles on the faces of strangers is at weddings, concerts or fashion related functions, the reason why I love and would continue with this job,” Sheherbano concluded.
