Forces kill 22 terrorists in Mohmand Agency

* Man arrested while planting landmine in Jhanda Masood

GHALANAI: At least 22 terrorists were killed in separate incidents during an action of security forces in Pandiali, Safi, Banizai and Ambar tehsils of Mohmand Agency on Sunday.

Official sources said that the security forces, backed by gunship helicopters and artillery, pounded terrorists’ suspected positions in these restive areas and inflicted heavy losses on them.

Reportedly, 16 terrorists were killed and several others were wounded while their four hideouts were dismantled.

The security forces conducted a search operation on receiving information about the presence of terrorists and miscreants in the areas. The troops retaliated and repulsed an attack of miscreants and destroyed a vehicle.

In another incident, a person was arrested while planting a landmine in Jhanda Masood. Two children died when one of the victims stepped on a landmine.

Separately, security forces killed six terrorists as they repulsed an attack on a checkpost near the Afghan border on Sunday, a security forces official said. The terrorists fired six missiles at a security checkpost in Dabori area of Upper Orakzai Agency. app
