Businessmen shocked over killing of Taseer
* Express their sincere condolences for the bereaved family

KARACHI: The business community in the country has expressed profound sorrow and grief over the killing of Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer in Islamabad Tuesday.
In separate messages, they said Taseer was a senior politician besides a professional businessman of the country.
Pakistan Tanners Association representatives Khurshid Alam and Agha Saiddain said as a businessman, he was always keen to promote economic activities in the country, especially in Punjab. Under his leadership, several trading and industrial concerns besides a national English daily were running successfully. They said as the Punjab governor, Taseer held meetings with PTA officials and always assured maximum help from the government to the second foreign earning sector of the country. He was a better choice as he ran the official affairs with serenity and dealt his political opponents with tolerance, they added.
Karachi Cotton Association Director Ghulam Rabbani said Taseer was a person of versatile personalities. He was a businessman and seasoned politician of the country. Taseer’s contribution in the promotion of positive journalism is evident of the fact that his own English daily of the country never hides facts and even publishes real stories about his own political friends and sitting members in the government. Rabbani said Taseer would be remembered for his unbiased comments on social, political and economic issues.
Canada Pakistan Business Council (CPBC) Chairman Anwar Merchant in a message from Canada said Taseer was keen for the promotion of economic and cultural ties between the business and common man of Pakistan and in this respect CPBC was also working.
Pakistan Yarn Merchants Association (PYMA) member said as a businessman, Taseer was working for bringing foreign investment into Pakistan and during several meetings with trade and industrial bodies, he had always been in favour of promoting economic activities besides giving all out assistance to the industrial and traders community of the country.
Representatives of textile and yarn sectors of the country including Shazad Alam, Yasin Siddik and Shakeel Ahmad said Taseer had held many meetings with the business community during his two-and-half-year governorship in Punjab. He was always shown maximum cooperation with the business community besides a campaigner to thwart nefarious designs of terrorist elements in the country.
BMG Group All Pakistan Marble Mining Processing Industry and Exporters Association (APMMPIEA) Chairman Sanaullah Khan said Taseer had many facets as he served the Punjab government as a governor besides he was running several trading, industrial and commercial concerns in the country. Khan said being an independent spokesman of the society, his English daily in the country is promoting economic and cultural sectors of the country with positive approach.
Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Senator Ghulam Ali said the entire business community across the country strongly condemned the murder of Taseer.
SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry President and Pak-US Business Council founder Chairman Iftikhar Ali Malik and LCCI former Chief Zafar Iqbal expressed profound grief and sorrow over the loss of the life of the Punjab governor.
PIA Managing Director Captain Muhammad Aijaz Haroon has condemned the brutal killing of Taseer.
Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association representatives including Mumtaz Maker and Pakistan Sugar Mills Association representative Ebrahim Hasham in their separate messages said Taseer was a man of his word as on many occasions he fulfilled his promises made to the business community.
They said unscrupulous elements have hatched a conspiracy to discourage the smooth flow of foreign investment into different sectors of the country.
They said disgruntled elements want to sabotage a peaceful atmosphere in the country through such heinous acts.
They all expressed their sincere condolences for the family members of Taseer and prayed to Almighty Allah for the departed soul to rest him in eternal peace.
