COAS visits South Waziristan
RAWALPINDI: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, visited the South Waziristan Agency on Tuesday to monitor the progress of Quick Impact Projects.
The Pakistan Army is undertaking these projects in consultation with local tribes and in coordination with the civil administration for social uplift of the areas affected by the war against terrorism. Kayani visited a higher secondary school in Makeen, North Waziristan Agency, that was jointly rebuilt by the Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force as a gesture of support for the locals who suffered in the war against terrorism. The COAS and CAS were received by the Corps Commander Lieutenant General Asif Yasin Malik.
Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman inaugurated the school. COAS later performed the earth breaking of a model health facility in Ladha, South Waziristan Agency, which is being built with the assistance of UAE government. He thanked the UAE government for providing the financial assistance and the local population for their wholehearted support. He pledged that Pakistan Army would continue working for peace and social progress of the area.
