Book Asian Media Barometer – Pakistan 2009 launched

ISLAMABAD: Independent media is crucial for development of a country and promotion of democratic setup, said speakers at the launching ceremony of a book on Tuesday. Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development in collaboration with Friedrich Ebert Stifung (FES) has published the book titled “Asian Media Barometer- Pakistan 2009” the first homegrown analysis of the media landscape in Asia. Anja Minnart, Resident representative of FES, highlighted the different aspect of the book. She said Asian Media Barometers served as a practical lobbying tool for media organizations. Presenting analysis of the Media Landscape in Pakistan Adnan Rehmat, Executive Director of Inter media and IA Rehman said this book was good document to understand media in Pakistan. Senior journalist Muhammad Zia Uddin said several aspects of the media were very bad. He said electronic media was going very fast and it was not possible to check the each and every thing of electronic media.Human rights activist Tahira Abdullah also spoke on this occasion. staff report
