Bomber kills four civilians near Khyber

Staff Report

PESHAWAR: At least four civilians were killed and 20 injured on Thursday when a suicide bomber – who was supposed to target a paramilitary convoy – prematurely detonated explosives strapped to his body near Khyber Agency, according to police.

“Four civilians were killed in the attack and at least 20 injured,” Cantt SP Tauseef Haider told reporters. The bomber struck in Old Bara area on the border between Khyber and Peshawar.

While no group has claimed responsibility, police suspect the Taliban of carrying out the attack.

Police said the paramilitary convoy passed moments before the bomber struck.

A foreign news agency put the death toll at 5.
