Exclusive Interview: PTCL striving hard to provide best services: PTCL SEVP

LAHORE: The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited is committed to provide best services to its customers and therefore is investing heavily in technology and a large number of customers are switching to PTCL network, said PTCL Business Zone North Senior Executive Vice President Tariq Salman.
In an interview with Daily Times, he said PTCL has introduced a vast product line, which is very economical and finest in the country. He said PTCL recently introduced first-ever Telepresence (TP) service, which is latest in the world and very handy for the corporate and business sector. Besides, introducing new products, the company is also committed to revolutionise the education sector. He said PTCL highly values its relationship with business customers and considers them as strategic partners. PTCL has positioned itself to facilitate the businesses through its innovative and cost effective solutions that will in turn benefit their customers.
“We are committed to provide broadband facilities in the whole country and all this on very affordable rates,” he said and added that the rates of PTCL are far less than in its competitors making the company different.
Salman said his company is providing numbers of services like landline phone, smart TV, broadband and EVO services through landline connections. He said PTCL’s engineers and staffs are working round the clock to bring innovative products and enhanced services to the valued customers. He said the company has launched triple play product, which includes (voice, data and TV services) which is state-of-art technology and provides with wide range of channels at customers’ doorsteps. “We have established One Stop Shop (OSS) and franchises throughout the country to facilitate the customers and we have replaced ordinary cables with fibre optic, which is excellent in quality and fault-free,” he said and added that the monthly bill service was quite problematic for the company therefore we gave special attention of delivering bills at the doorstep of the customers. He said facilitating the complaints of the customers is very much important and it is the reason that the president of the company monitors help line 1218 directly on daily basis. “We redress the complaints within 24 hours,” he added.
He said the company is committed to boost the business and corporate sector and therefore launched various services to facilitate businessmen. Talking on recently introduced product TP, he said the service is first ever in Pakistan and a new technology that combines rich audio with high-definition video to deliver a true ‘in-person’ experience. “It is designed to bring the businesses closer to their people, customers, vendors, partners and events you need to build your business. The creation of a live, face-to-face meeting experience empowers users to interact and collaborate like never before,” he said and added that a two-day demo session was held in Lahore and parallel sessions were run in Karachi and Islamabad, where the business customers experienced the service. He said the customers expressed their appreciation about the service and the initiatives PTCL is bringing to create value for their businesses.
The TP service leverages a complete set of activities that ensures efficient end-to-end life size meeting experience by providing fully managed and scalable services over the network. PTCL allows customers to come in and rent an impressive TP studio on hourly basis, without having to invest in the expensive technology. PTCL offers TP meeting studios and conferencing facilities for hire in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, to Middle East, Europe, and North America and to any Cisco or other TP suites around the world, he said.
Salman said PTCL has always given special consideration to the educational institutions, students and faculty members. He said PTCL broadband student package is one of the prime examples giving 30 percent off not only to all the students, but the faculty members and administrative staff with the institute. He said PTCL encourages students, as they play an important role in the development of the country and it is the reason the company offers excellent rates for the students. The SEVP further said that the PTCL broadband student package initiative, first ever in Pakistan, was only with an objective of being partner in the silent revolution that this student community can bring about for Pakistan. He said recently, PTCL celebrated the marvellous achievement of a remarkable student that has made it proud while meeting with the brilliant student Arfa Karim, youngest Microsoft Certificate Professional (MCP) in the world at the age of 9, has reiterated the remarkable potential of the student community in particular and the nation in general. “Looking at her intelligence, PTCL is proud to assign Arfa Karim as brand ambassador for PTCL EVO service in Pakistan,” he added.
He said another strategic project that PTCL has partnered with the government of Punjab is of establishing IT labs in schools. “We have provided the connectivity to more than 4,200 schools in Punjab and the project has helped a lot in bridging the digital gap and provide opportunity to the under privileged students of the country,” he said and added that PTCL reassures its commitment at this platform that our focus is to facilitate its customers with affordable prices and unmatched value.
Talking on capacity building for PTCL’s staff, Salman said special attention is given to the staff for enhancing their expertise. He said management has taken vital steps for providing the best facilities to its field staff and special kit bags are distributed to the linemen and field staff of different telephone exchanges. He said special benefit of Rs 1,000 extra is being given to the salaries of cable jointers.
