NATO terminal attacked
PESHAWAR: Suspected Taliban on Saturday destroyed four trucks during an attack on a terminal that stored supplies for the NATO forces in Afghanistan, police said. The Taliban attack took place on the Ring Road in the Pishtakhara police station precincts, and the attacked terminal’s owner, Farhad, said the Taliban torched four vehicles, offices, six generators and a workshop during the raid at 2am. Farhad said the men had not attacked the containers meant for the NATO troops but had instead torched his property, which the AFP differed with, reporting that the Taliban attack had destroyed 12 trucks containing food supplies for the NATO forces. Farhad said each of the three torched cranes had cost him Rs 85 million. Security guards at the terminal told Daily Times that hundreds of armed Taliban raided the terminal, sprayed petrol on the owners’ property and set it on fire. But locals claimed otherwise, saying hundreds of vehicles meant for American forces stood in ashes at the cordoned-off terminal. staff report/afp
