Propaganda against PPP, president proves futile: Qaim
KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah has said that people across the country have shown full confidence in the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and the propaganda against the Pakistan People’s Party and the president has proven futile. According to an official handout on Monday, he said this while talking to the media during his visit to the Bhutto’s ancestral graveyard in Garhi Khuda Bux, Larkana and at a reception hosted by PPP leader Aftab Shabaan Mirani at Shikarpur on the occasion of Eidul Azha. Shah said the present government would complete its tenure as people have given it a mandate for five years. He said the government is making all out efforts to provide facilities and relief to the people at their doorsteps. He also said that there is no threat to the coalition, and the PPP-Muttahida Qaumi Movement coalition government is running smoothly. Shah said it is the joint responsibility of the coalition partners to serve the people without any discrimination. Responding to a question regarding the forthcoming National Finance Commission Award, the chief minister said the Sindh province would succeed in getting more funds through the NFC Award, which would be based on multiple criteria. He said the PPP government was following the footsteps of Benazir Bhutto and implementing the manifesto of the party in which ‘Roti Kapra aur Makan’ was promised to the downtrodden people. He said people support the programme of the party, which is why millions of people attended the foundation day rally of the party in Karachi. Talking about the government’s schemes, Shah said an amount of Rs 90 billion has been approved for the development of the province, and education and health sectors would be given priority. Besides, he added, the government is providing Rs 100 each to some 0.5 million poor women under the Benazir Bhutto Support Programme. staff report
