No let-up in crime during Eid holidays

* Two killed in capital
* Three houses burgled, two vehicles stolen in Rawalpindi

ISLAMABAD: The capital police recovered two dead bodies from different parts of the city during the last two days, a police official said.
He elaborated that corpse of Danion Masih, 20, a resident of Lahore, was found at a store in Media Town in the limits of Sihala police station. The deceased had injuries on his head and also on his arms, he added.
He said that police, after receiving information, arrived at the scene and shifted the dead body to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for autopsy.
He said police had recovered another dead body of a man from Nalla Korang in the limits of Shahzad Town police station. He said the man, aged between 30 to 32, could not be identified. “Police shifted the dead body to PIMS,” he said.
He said a house and a shop were burgled in different areas of the city during the last two days. Giving details, he said some unidentified men forced their entry into the house of Muhammad Tariq at sector G-6/1. “They took away ornaments and cash,” he explained.
“Similarly a shop was burgled at Tarlai in the limits of Koral police station. Police registered separate First Information Reports (FIR s) and started investigations,” he added.
Meanwhile, a person was killed by his neighbour in the limits of Sabzi Mandi police station on Monday.
Gul Saeed, an Afghan national, was stabbed to death by Mian Rehman at a Katchi Abadi over a petty matter, police sources said. “Rehman was later arrested,” they added. Police registered the FIR against Rehman and started investigations. Similarly, Sabzi Mandi police arrested two men who allegedly had kidnapped a student of 9th class for ransom and later murdered him, sources said.
They said that Sheikh Muhammad Umer, father of Muhammad Usman, a resident of Rawalpindi, informed police that his son did not return home after taking paper. “Later, the culprits demanded Rs 30 lakh ransom for the safe release of his son,” he said.
Police registered the FIR and arrested two culprits including Muhammad Ejaz and Aman ullah. The culprits during preliminary investigations confessed that they had killed Usman as the deceased had identified one of their companions.
Meanwhile, A thief was gunned down in Tali Mori in an abortive housebreaking bid on Saturday, police said.
According to Civil Lines police, three armed men made a forced entry into a house near the Tariqabad checkpoint Saturday morning. The family cried for help. Akhter Hafeez, the next-door neighbour, rushed to the place along with a gun and fired at the intruders. Riaz, an intruder, instantly died of gunshots, while his two associates fled.
Police showed up after a while, had the body autopsied at the district headquarters (DHQ) hospital and handed it over to the thief’s family. Police said Riaz’s wife had died long ago and he had been away from house since. They said the thief’s only son lived with his grandparents.
Meanwhile, two vehicles were stolen and three houses burgled
on Eid days.
Muzamil Hussain, of Professors’ Colony, said his motorcycle was stolen outside his house, while Tamreez, of Geela Khurd, complained of the theft of his car from near his house.
Qamar Iqbal, of New Lalazar, said his house was burgled when he was away. He said burglars made off with more than 10 tola gold jewellery and other valuables.
Saeed Khan, of Mazhar Qayyum Road, also complained of housebreaking in his absence. He said he had been deprived of gold jewellery and cash valuing Rs 150,000.
Aziz, of Dhama Syedan, said unidentified burglars looted Rs 25,000 cash and 12 tola gold jewellery from his house.
Police of the respective areas registered separate cases and began investigation.
