Eid security plan : Over 12,000 cops deployed in city
KARACHI: The Sindh police has finalised the security plan to maintain peace during Eidul Azha holidays across the province, following the instructions of Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza.
Under the Eid security plan, over 12,000 police officers and functionaries have been deployed in Karachi alone while special vigilance cameras have been installed at the major places for Eid prayers congregations for effective security.
All station house officers are in constant touch with the managements of mosques, Imambargahs, Eidgahs, shopping centres, discount bazaars and cattle markets, while snap checking at all the entry and exit points of the city, patrolling and picketing have also been intensified. For effective intelligence, plainclothes policemen have been deployed besides patrolling of Muhafiz Force at the town level.
The services of the bomb disposal squad have also been acquired and it has been decided that the parking of vehicles would be allowed at some distance from mosques, Imambargahs, Eidgahs, shopping centres, hotels, restaurants and other public places.
Traffic police would also be deployed at all the main roads, intersections, light signals and arrangements have been made for informing the citizens of alternate routes. The police would also ensure implementation of the code of ethics for collection of hides of sacrificial animals.
