SHC issues notice against opening of Gizri flyover
KARACHI: A division bench of Sindh High Court, headed by Chief Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, Thursday issued a pre-admission notice for December 1, on a constitutional petition filed against re-opening of Gizri flyover. The respondents include the Secretary, Ministry of Environmental Protection, Sindh Environmental Protection Department, Environmental Protection Counsel, CEO Clifton Cantonment Board, Defence Housing Authority, M/s NESPAK and the Deputy Attorney General. The petitioner, Aneesa Farooqui, along with other residents of Khayaban-e-Hafiz, submitted that M/s NESPAK hired by the Cantonment Board Clifton & DHA, had initiated construction of a flyover from Submarine Chowrangi to Khayaban-e-Tanzeem on main Gizri Road in 2008 without fulfilling mandatory legal requirements regarding its environmental affects.
Judicial allowances: The Sindh Law Department has moved a summary to Sindh chief minister regarding payment of special judicial allowances to the employees of the Sindh High Court. According to department, the allowances come up to Rs 24,879,020 per year. The Sindh advocate general stated this before a division bench of the SHC on Thursday in five identical petitions filed by SHC employees, seeking payment of special judicial allowances to them bringing their emoluments at par with employees of the high courts of the other three provinces. staff report
